Choose ferry-and-ride or fly-and-ride first
Bringing your own motorcycle gives continuity with familiar luggage and controls. Flying and renting can make more sense when holiday time is limited or your preferred region is far from the ferry arrival. Compare the full journey, including port travel, collection appointments and any extra hotel nights, rather than comparing only ticket prices.
Keep the first Spanish day manageable
After a crossing, allow for disembarkation, check-in requirements and the adjustment to riding on the right. A northern arrival works naturally with Cantabria or Asturias; reaching Valencia is a separate touring commitment. Ferry routes and schedules change, so verify your actual sailing before fixing overnight stops.
Check documents for your exact circumstances
Read the current UK government advice for driving in Spain and confirm that your licence covers the motorcycle. For your own bike, ask the insurer about Spain, roadside recovery and any countries crossed. For a rental, confirm the operator’s document, age and deposit requirements separately.
